What is ELSS – Equity-Linked Savings Scheme?
Equity-Linked Savings Schemes (or ELSS) are the tax saving mutual funds where investors avail the facility to save up to 46,800 under the Section 80C. The investors can not sell their units for 3 years from the purchase date (3 year’s lock-in period).
These mutual funds maintain portfolio largely in the equity stocks.
If there is profit gained over Rs 1 Lakh, then there will be Long-Term Capital Gain (LTCG) applied worth 10%.
